We regularly have up to 5 vultures over the Ottery in April after they return from their winter migration. Strong west winds make Otter Point ideal for soaring, and the vultures even come between the pines and the house. We awoke one morning in 2020 to calm conditions after a wild wind the night before. There were these 5 vultures on the dead pine behind our house. Like a scene from a Western, waiting for us to croak.

This sequence started one evening with several vultures resting on the dead pine behind The Ottery. One by one they took off to catch the updrafts around our point and the low evening sun lit them up well while they flew over.
