This is how I grew up, watching swans on the Thames (though not at Windsor), taking bread to feed them and being careful not to get in range of their snatching beaks.

It was a surprise to wake one morning and see several swans way out on the lake. We are used to transitory visits from tundra swans, so were surprised to see these were mute swans. They are not native here, but have been expanding their presence significantly in the last few years.
